Kathy Miller Artworks
My art comes from a place that changes and evolves based on influences in my life from an encounter with nature’s environment and the immediate availability of a medium. A neck injury limits my use of the heavy Canon I used to carry on hikes and walks. The Canon is reserved for studio work. The iPhone, however, has been a great field substitute, as well as pencils to sketch on paper, watercolor pens, and acrylic paints. Photographs made on the iPhone are processed using Snapseed, Photoshop, plus a blending of filters and opacity using Topaz Suites. So, for my art, I create for me. If others like it, that’s a bonus.
I am the daughter of an artist, musician, dress maker, and business owner. She was ambitious, a loyal friend, and to tell her no, only made her that more determined. At my age now, I see how much we were alike. She died when I was 27. I am grateful for the way she encouraged me to not give up, don’t be afraid to try new things, and to embrace new experiences.
Now that I am free of my Board of Director’s duties at the 29 Palms Art Gallery, I am looking forward to having more free time. Stay tuned.
